In the Monterey Bay we are blessed with an rich abundance of award winning golf courses. The Pebble Beach Company owns and operates 5,300 acres of coastal property on the Monterey coast known as Pebble Beach Resorts. The most famous course is Pebble Beach Golf Links, designed by Douglas Grant and Jack Neville, with rugged coastlines that provide wide-open vistas and sloping greens.
Seven public and 18 private 18-hole golf courses can be found in Pebble Beach alone. The public courses that they own are The Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill. The Peter Hay Course is a nine hole par-3 course in Pebble Beach.
In 1926 Pebble Beach held its first professional tournament, the Monterey Peninsula Open. Then at the beginning of 1947, it began hosting the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am tournament, often called the Clam Bake. This tournament is now the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Other high profile championships like the U.S. Amateur Championships and of course the US Open are also often staged here.
However, you must ask yourself, can you handle the $530 walk-on rate? Do you feel lucky……well, do you?……………….you know the rest…
